BIO Paolo Parisi
Paolo Parisi
Born in Catania. He lives and works in Florence.
The experience of art as a cognitive act by means of the various means and processes of art, the variation of the perception and formation of one’s own point of view are the fundamental element of Paolo Parisi’s work. A determined coloring of the windows can immerge daylight in another color, so that each object found in the environment sinks into the new and different hue. Sound recorded by the sounding apparatus placed under the crust of volcanoes, can make the movement of the material audible. Sculpture, executed in layered sheets of corrugated cardboard, can be made inside it, as if in a natural cavity. Painting, the subject and central element of his work, becomes an intermediary between painting, sculpture and the annihilation of both of these in space, by means of perspective lines of a collective and elementary geography. Paolo Parisi, from the very beginning, has practiced pictorial abstraction for reflecting on the mechanisms of vision and for rendering the fruition of a monochrome as a physical experience, by intervening in the architectonic dimension that contains it and establishing new relationships between contents and container.
