BIO Andrea Marini
Andrea Marini
Born in Florence where he lives and works.
“In my way of “constructing” I have always worked with shapes whose configuration was not entirely resolved but grasped in a state of on-going growth, of change, almost as if they were living organisms. In some cases I resort to the use of particular lights (neon, light bulbs, Wood lamps) to accentuate this sense of the transformation of objects. I view these lights as sources of energy that nourish and favor the “virtual” altering of a shape. These shapes, at the same time seducing and disturbing, invite us to think about the reason for such on-going alterations, whether they are fruit of a controversial logic of decreasingly natural biological processes or of a natural establishment of a new reality. The use of sound, taken from reality and elaborated on a computer, in the creation of a sort of short circuit between reality and the imaginary, is useful to me at times both for expanding the vitality of a work in space and for stimulating a process of empathy with an “other” environment. It is my intention to create a “universe” where the borderline between a contaminated, altered reality and a fantastic reality seems extremely frail.”
